Talking About It: Fertility Struggles and Rainbow Babies

May 26, 2017

At FabKids, we know life isn’t always rainbows and butterflies. In fact, sometimes “rainbow” takes on a whole new meaning for new moms, rainbow babies: the baby born after loss of a baby due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or death in infancy. According to national statistics, twenty-five percent of women will miscarry, yet it continues to be a taboo topic. Without an outlet to talk about these struggles, many women feel alone in their struggles. We started talking about this as a team, and it turns out some of our very own team members have miscarried. Molly Bellar, VP of Marketing and Creative, shares:

“I had a miscarriage when we were trying for number 2. I couldn’t believe how intense the experience was and how alone I felt while going through it. Afterwards, as I shared my story with friends and family I was shocked to find out how common it was – and how many others I knew had gone through it.”

We believe it’s important to talk about things, even if it’s scary. When we heard our colleague Kira’s story from our sister brands we were moved by her experience and outlook. She kindly offered to share about her harrowing journey, and we hope this brings comfort to any of our FabMoms out there who may be facing an uphill battle with fertility.

Kira Cohen, Director of Public Relations for JustFab and ShoeDazzle, shares her personal story.

How I Stay Fit – A Mom’s Guide To Healthy Living Part I

January 4, 2016

Every New Year, I made the resolution to get fit + stick to a consistent work out routine. I used to spend an hour at the gym, but as soon as I had my 2nd child, that time (and energy) went out the door. My free time was spent working-out and then working. I soon replaced my gym membership with a treadmill, and then replaced that with online workouts and programs that required even less time to achieve desired results. When my 2nd daughter was almost 2 years old, I hit a roadblock. I was beyond frustrated that I couldn’t lose the weight (I dropped it all and then some after my 1st born) and decided to hire a friend who is a fitness and nutrition expert to help set me on the right track. She said that you only need about 20 minutes of high-intensity exercise to achieve results. It was such a relief to hear from an actual professional that I didn’t have to dread spending an hour working out to get back to my pre-baby form.

Here are my Tips + Tricks for staying fit as a busy mom! Continue Reading…

How I Stay Fit – A Mom’s Guide To Healthy Living Part II

November 16, 2015

I used to be one of those people who associated lengthy workouts with weight loss. I was never really conscious about the food part. I am very open about my addiction to candy corn. It took me becoming a mom and having a lot less time in my day to really learn about the relationship between food and fitness on weight loss. I came to learn that it really is 80-20, with 80% about the food and 20% the fitness. Continue Reading…

#AFabFall — What To Wear This Fall For Fab Moms + FabKids

August 17, 2015
megan zietz, fabkids, fall fashion, just fab, just fab fall fashion, fashion blogger, what to wear this fall, back to school back to school style, bts style, bts, slip on sneakers, ny photography, nyc style,

For me, when it comes to back to school shopping I hate going to the stores, it’s bad enough I have to subject myself into the crowds for the school supplies. So, the last thing I want to do it stand in the fitting room with two rambunctious little boys for what seems a lifetime of trying on clothes, in an already over crowded setting. Welcome to New York, people.  I’m better off shopping online, it’s more efficient and I get to keep my sanity.
