Halloween is a fun night for kids but often a scary one for moms and dads. Parents aren’t always excited about letting their little ones walk around on Halloween night but we have some tips to keep your kids safe this year!
- Go trick-or-treating a little earlier this year. Instead of leaving the house at 8, try walking around the neighborhood when it’s still a little light outside.
- Make sure to use the buddy system. In addition to having kids travel in packs, assign each kid a buddy or two to make sure no one gets left behind.
- Give each buddy pair a flashlight. Not only can a flashlight keep your kids from tripping on the sidewalk, but you can also have them use it when crossing the street. Tell them to shine in on the road while they cross in a designated crosswalk!
- Always have an adult present! Gather a group of 2 or 3 parents and walk around with your trick-or-treaters. Tell the kids that they can’t go more than 1 house ahead of wherever the parents are.
